Toronto D Pan Am Games 2015 On July 10th 2015, the opening ceremonies will take place for the 2015 Pan American Games at the Pam Am Ceremonies venue in Toronto. To get things rolling, here are some fun facts about the Games and what they've meant for Canada. Facts 1951 1967, 1999 1,2 3 2015 This year, Toronto is hosting the 17th edition of the Pan Am Games. The first Games were held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1951. This will be the third time that Canada has hosted. The cycling track The brand new $56-million Cisco Milton Pan Am / Parapan Am Velodrome was built to stage cycling events at the Games. For over a month, a crew of over 50 carpenters installed nearly 60 kilometres of Siberian spruce wood to build the 230 metre long track which boasts 42-degree banks. 80-millimetre nails were hammered into every 30 centimetres of wood, by hand. No drills, no nail guns.
