Rhinos of the XXI century

Rhino horn, like fingernails and hairs, is made of keratin. Used in the medicine systems of many Asian countries, from Malaysia and South Korea to India and China, to cure a variety of ailments. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the horn, dissolved in boiling water, is used to treat fever, rheumatism, gout, and other disorders. According to traditional Chinese texts, such as Li Shih-chen's 1597 medical text "Pen Ts' ao Kang Mu", the horn could also cure snakebites, hallucinations, typhoid, headaches, carbuncles, vomiting, food poisoning, and "devil possession".(However, it is not, as commonly believed, prescribed as an aphrodisiac). In Yemen, the rhino horn is used for the handles of curved daggers called jambiya. traditional Rhino world population Northern white rhinoceros (Cerstotherium estimated, 2010 simum cottoni Iydekker, 1908) 5 Javan Rhinoceros (Rhinocerce sondatcus: Deemerset, 1822 Sumatran Rhinoceros (Dtoororhinus sumatrensie; G.
