Pests: Dangerous or Harmless?

Dangerous or Harmless? Find out below which pests you should be worried about, and which ones mind their own business. Dangerous Harmless The yellow jacket is very aggressive wasp that forms its paper nest underground. Often mistaken for bees, these wasps have a thicker yellow and black body. Nests can be found in old animal burrows or wasp made holes in the ground. The honey bee is an important part of the pollination equation. They pollinate roughly 80% of the United States fruit. Only have this bee removed if in a highly populated area. Otherwise don't bother them. They are on the verge of becoming extinct. Dangerous Harmless The Eastern Coral Snake is one of the most poisonous snakes in the world. Red touches yellow, you're a dead fellow. Remember that rhyme and you'll be fine. It may look like the Coral Snake but it's actually the King Snake. Not harmful at all and is usually kept as a pet. Red touches black, you're OK Jack. Dangerous Harmless The Black Widow is the most recognized spider of the Widow family. They are not aggressive and usually only bite if threatened or disturbed. If you suspect that you have been bitten by one, a doctor should be consulted immediately. Sometimes mistaken for the Black Widow, the False Widow spider is very harmless. The bite can be deadly but it's such a rare occurrence there are little to no records of their bites. Dangerous Harmless The Brown Recluse can be identified by a line pattern that gives it a distinctive violin shape. They can be found in dark and hidden areas. If you suspect that you have been bítten by one, a doctor should be consulted immediately. The Wolf Spider is nocturnal and are gifted hunters, so much so that they are considered very beneficial and natural pest controllers. Dangerous Harmless There are many different ants that call Ohio home, from the common sugar ant and pavement ant to Odorous house ant and yellow ant. Ants may be difficult insects to eliminate as they can adapt to extreme climates and conditions as well as drastic chanaes in diet. Carpenter ants are wood dwelling ants that burrow into rotten or compromised wood, trees, logs etc. Although commonly believed, carpenter ants do not consume the wood: they merely push it aside to create homes called aalleries. Termites When termites have a chance to reproduce they can build up to a million in colonies. As they grow they can eat an 8ft 2x4 in as little as a few weeks. With proper pest control removal, termites can be eliminated, thus saving your house, and thousands of dollars in damage.
