The majority of deaths happen in bedrooms, whilst parents are sleeping. Toddlers are the most vulnerable age group due to their size. It is now illegal to sell or install blinds that do not meet new safety standards. These new standards mandate that: Safety devices must be installed on blinds when manufactured. Blinds must include a safety device to prevent dangers from cords or chains. Testing must be carried out during home installation on all safety crifical components. Cords and chaiņs must have a set maximum length. Blinds must contain warning notices and safety instructions. Safety information must be provided by retailers and be present within packaging. WARNING!! Unfortunately new standards aren't retroactive, so take these steps to make your existing blinds safe.
