ALLERGIES Your body's immune system is like your internal police force. It quickly reacts to destroy viruses and germs to keep you healthy. Allergic reactions are caused by your immune system getting 'carried away by attacking substances that are of no harm to you; we call these substances allergens and can include pollen, pet allergens, certain foods and others.
