DEER Forage your foliage RABBITS Eat plants, vegetables, and buds Alternatives: Corn, apples, sweet potatoes, commercially prepared deer food Alternatives: Rye grass, timothy grass or alfalfa hay, commercial rabbit pellets BIRDS Forage your lawn and garden for bugs or seeds SQUIRRELS Chew their way into your house Alternatives: Commercially prepared bird seed, black-oil sunflower seed, cracked corn, white proso millet, peanuts, suet Alternatives: Commercially prepared squirrel food, acorns, pinecones, hickory nuts Because all of these animals will also eat bird seed, it's important that they have their own separate feeding station All of these options are relatively inexpensive and certainly beat having these critters destroy the plants and vegetables you truly care about in your yard.
