Newer research points to the critical importance of the nutrition and health status of pregnant women for brain development, weight and risk for a number of diseases. As well, women influence the healthcare decisions of man, including their children, spouses and increasingly, their parents. Never before in society have women been in so many roles and with that, experienced associated high levels of stress, another threat to health and well-being. Therefore, educating women about how to improve and maintain their health has never been more important." - Carolyn Coker Ross, MD, MPH, Consultant to the Eating Disorder Program, The Ranch "National Women's Health Week is an important reminder to take care of ourselves physically, mentally and emotionally so that we can effectively and authentically show up for ourselves and our loved ones" Sarah Chapin, Executive Director, SRI "National Women's Health Week gives us an opportunity to focus on the needs of women at large. We continue to see a growing percentage of women seeking treatment for sex and intimacy disorders at The Center for Relationship and Sexual Recovery at The Ranch. Often these underserved individuals suffer silently and secretly, frequently presenting with substance abuse, chronic relapse, eating disorders, depression and other mental health issues. These women need to know they are not alone and there is hope for healing." - Cheryl Brown, Director of Marketing & Outreach Services, The Ranch SOURCES CREATED BY 1. http://www.who.int/mental_health/prevention/genderwomen/en/ 2.
