Winter Gardening Tips

WINTER * GARDENING TIPS Winter's coming but that doesn't mean you have to stop gardening! CLEAN REPAIR You'll have more time to clean up your garden tools, tables and chairs. You could also spruce up outbuildings. Check structures like fences and sheds are strong enough to withstand wind, rain and snow. COLLECT With all the extra waste and cuttings you'll be able to start a compost heap. THE BIG COVER UP Protect your plants from frost by covering up your flowerbeds. Potted plants can be brought closer to your home or inside. FOOD FOR WILDLIFE Plant trees and shrubs such as holly and brambles that will attract birds and other creatures. Or put out food that will help wildlife survive the harsh winter. There are loads of winter VEGETABLES vegetables that will thrive over the colder months. Asparagus Spinach Peas Onions Garlic ADD SOME COLOUR with winter plants and flowers. pansies polyanthus tulips Knock snow off the branches of conifers and daffodils wisteria vines evergreens to stop them bending. evergreens 00000 Spend some time pouring over gardening magazines, catalogues and sites for tips and ideas.
