When do workers’ compensation benefits start?
WHEN DO WORKERS' COMPENSATION BENEFITS START? If you are eligible for workers compensation benefits, it is important to know when you will start receiving them. Some types of benefits, including medical benefits, start immediately. It is not necessary to wait until your workers' comp case is opened to seek medical treatment for your injuries. If you have already received bills for medical treatment for injuries you believe are related to your claim, file a workers' comp claim right away. Temporary disability benefits, or "time loss compensation", permanent disability benefits, and other workers' comp benefits do not start until the claim is formally accepted. APPROVED Even if the claim you file is approved, you won't actually start receiving cash benefits until you are entitled to them. Most states require that a doctor completes a form certifying that you are physically incapable of working at the present time. Your temporary disability benefits will stop once your employer established sufficient evidence to show that you no longer need to keep receiving them. Income benefits cover a portion of wages that you lose due to being unable to work, either because of a work-related illness or injury. Medical benefits cover any necessary treatments that are related to your workplace injury or illness. Contact here
