There were close to 35 million vehicles on the road in the UK 2012, but what types of vehicle is this overall figure made up of.
Well according to data released by the government, 80% of these vehicles were unsurprisingly cars, with vans making up 9.5% and motorcycles making up just 3.77%.

popularity of motorcycles was perhaps the most surprising revelation from this data. In Q3 2001, there were 53,000 new motorcycle registered in the UK. Fast forward to Q3 2012, and this figure had decreased to just 28,800.
