What Would NBA Stars Earn Based On Their College Majors?

What Would NBA Stars Earn Based On Their College Majors? Professional athletes get paid big bucks for their superhuman speed, strength and agility. But what would they earn if they pursued a career based on what they majored on in college? PayScale projected these seven players' salaries based on their college majors. Nothing comes quite close to what they earn playing professional ball, but it's interesting to imagine how different their lives would be if they pursued a different path. Harvard ME RO CKETS TAS JEREMY LIN Economics I Houston Rockets $8,374,646 $64,800 VAK NBA Salary Projected Salary With a degree in Economics from Harvard University, nobody needs to tell Jeremy Lin that all the time he spent on the court was a wise investment into his financial future. If Linsanity hadn't struck the nation, he would only be earning about $64,000 a year. Georgia Tech CHRIS BOSH Miami Heat Graphic Design $17,545,000 $58,700 NBA Salary Projected Salary CB4 earns big money for his athletic prowess, but it seems that he may have some artistic ability as well. Had he followed his muse though, he'd only be earning $58,700 per year, less than one half of one percent of his eight-figure NBA income. University of Arizona ANDRE IGUODALA Education Denver Nuggets $14,968,250 $43,000 NBA Salary Andre Ilguodala obviously likes to have his summers off. Good thing that's the one thing the NBA and his college major, Education, have in common. Their salaries, on the other hand, couldn't be more dissimilar. Projected Salary Georgetown PACERS ROY HIBBERT Government Indiana Pacers $13,668,750 $66,900 NBA Salary "Hungry Hungry Hibbert" is known for aggressive plays designed to eat the opposing team alive. His degree in Governmental Studies from Georgetown University shows that he has a studious side as well - but even with that distinguished academic pedigree, he wouldn't break $70,000 a year if he hadn't gone pro. Projected Salary Duke SHANE BATTIER $3,135,000 Religion itie et Relino $65,600 Projected Salary Miami Heat NBA Salary Both an athlete and a scholar, Shane Battier studied Religion at Duke and was named Academic All-American of the Year when he graduated in 2001. But even with his high GPA, the most he probably could have made with that major was $65,600. St. John's ARIDOr METTA WORLD PEACE Los Angeles Lakers Mathematics $7,258,960 $83,000 NBA Salary Projected Salary Metta World Peace is known for his antics, both on and off the court. So it might surprise you that he has the highest projected salary based on his college major - a degree in mathematics from St. John's University could have easily earned him over $83,000 per year. UCLA African American Studies RUSSELL WESTBROOK Oklahoma City Thunder $13,668,793 $40,000 NBA Salary Projected Salary Russell Westbrook earns over 13 million dollars a year from the Oklahoma City Thunder, but did you know that he's still taking classes at UCLA pursing a degree in African American Studies? Hopefully he's managing his NBA money well, because the most he could expect to earn with that degree is $40,000 a year.
