When it comes to getting a degree, minorities are still falling behind. www.bestcollegesonline.org has created an infographic entitled “Diversity in Higher Ed: Are We All Equal?” Detailing how min...
orities are getting degrees compare, and how colleges are beginning to try and help.
It’s a fact: 25% fewer men receive college degrees than women today. Compared with 1975, that’s a huge change, as back then, 17% fewer women received degrees then man. While that is a nice statistic, minorities are still struggling to get degrees. In the racial makeup of undergraduate populations, American Indians /Alaskans only make up 1%, Foreign/International make up 3%, Asian or Pacific Islander make up 6%, and African Americans make up 13%, compared to a 58% white population.
This infographic also goes into detail about the most culturally diverse schools, along with the least culturally diverse colleges in the United States. One huge hurdle to jump is cost. Student loan debt is skyrocketing, and there’s no change in sight. Additionally, financial aid doesn’t seem to be picking up much of the slack.
