WAR ON POLIO 1988-2012 1988 2012 Polio vaccine is one of the greatest achievements of medical science that changed world. Scientists and volunteers worked almost twenty years to stop this disease. This disease usually affects children under the age of five. 20 years ago, thousands of children were affected every day around the world. Over the course of 20 years, 20 million volunteers reached 500 million people every year. Now polio cases have been reduced by 99%. The goal is to make the world polio free.
