It became the first car affordable for the average American workers, not just for the wealthy. 1930 This era introduced a more sleek and rounded design and featured inventions like automatic transmission and the V-8, V-12, and V-16 engine. Radios and heaters were also now standard. 1940 The new 1940s styled cars had a lower, longer, broader, and more massive look. However, many cars ceased production due to World War 2. However, the 1940's saw the first ever luxury cars. 1950 The cars of the 1950s were longer, wider, lower and covered in chrome and tail pins. These cars were more stylized, taking aesthetic from popular planes and trains of the era. 1960 The cars of the 1960s were less about style and more about power. Mustang, Camaro, and Road Runners boasted a cleanr, less bulky look and offered drivers with front-wheel driving. 1970 Federal Regulations regarding pollution caused many cars of this era to turn towards a more compact design. However, this era also brought a lot more cost efficent gas mileage. 1980 The more lavished lifestyle of the 80s reflected in the cars of this era. Car brands like Ferrari and lamborghini began popping up on the walls of surbaban teens everywhere. 1990 American car manufacturers got back to making great cars in the 90s.
