HOW ARTSY ts IS YOUR STATE? Art is the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination and can encompass many mediums. We set out to determine which states are the artsiest in the country by developing a unique data point by looking at three data sets: • The projected state funding for each state • The number of professional artists per capita • The quantity of museums per capita of the state ..'. They make up 1.4 percent of the total workforce and 6.9 percent of the professional workforce. Here are how the types of artists break down. The federal government, states and localities appropriated a combined $1.23 billion to the arts in 2014. While we only focused on the state allocations, here is how arts organization funding breaks down. The number of museums in the U.S. stands at 35,000. That makes more museums in the U.S. than all the U.S. Starbucks and McDonald's restaurants combined. Here are how the types of museums break down.
