The Top Beauty Turn-Offs According to Men

The Top Ten Beauty Turn-Offs According to Men Are You Guilty of These Beauty Blunders? Ladies, do you get yourself all dolled up for the club and end up coming home alone? Perhaps it could be because you are unwittingly guilty of one of the top ten beauty turn-offs. This poll surveyed 1091 men to find out what beauty blunder turns them off the most. 52 men 4.8% 10. Bad Manicure After spending so long on your beauty routine, you may skip the manicure step, wrongly thinking that your nails will go unnoticed. Incorrect! Our surveyed men put bad manicures at number ten in the top ten list of beauty turn-offs. Ladies - How We Fix It: Always make sure your nails are impeccable. If you can't do them well yourself, then get a manicure every couple of weeks. Remember that no nail varnish is better than scraps of nail polish peeling off. If in a hurry, grab your remover and nail file and at least make them neat and tidy. 58 men 5.3% 9. Lipstick on Teeth Imagine the scene - you've had your teeth whitened, you're all dressed up for a big night out, with smokey eyes and bright red lipstick. You meet the man of your dreams and flash him a great big sparkling smile. Except it doesn't sparkle, as rather than revealing your pearly whites, you reveal red stained teeth that make you look vampire-esque - at best. The group of men surveyed feel repulsed by your Lipstick stained teeth, and have rated this the ninth worst beauty turn-off. Ladies - How We Fix It: If you are going for a deep shade of lipstick, make sure you use a long lasting lip colour that won't rub off when you eat and drink. If you are continuously eeth, then the caught out by your man and will be leaving the club alone. having to wipe your ck off your are, you will be 76 men 7% 8. Visible Hair Extensions Long, luscious locks are in, but exposed hair extensions are very much out according to our group. Ladies - How We Fix It: If you are going for extensions, make sure you choose a reputable hairdresser to do the work for you. Ensure you maintain the extensions and look after them, regularly visiting your hairdresser to get them seen to. Don't go for a shade that doesn't blend in with the rest of your hair; and although thin hair is when you will need them most - the thinner your hair, the more difficult it will be to hide your extensions, so try adding volume using volume boosters rather than committing to extensions that may further damage your hair and will be completely exposed. 88 men 8.1% 7. Dry & Chapped Lips The chapped lips look has never been in. Our boys want kissable lips, not sandpaper. Ladies - How We Fix It: Make sure you always carry a top quality lip balm with you, and wear gloss rather than lipstick when you go out if you are suffering from chapped lips. 96 men 8.8% 6. Plastic Surgery Look Those first few signs of ageing cause panic and hysteria, and rather than taking the time to get used to the idea of growing older naturally, women are rushing out to surgeons to get botox, fillers and all sorts of other unnatural procedures. Whilst it may smooth away those lines, it creates a plastic, expressionless, inflamed look, which there is no going back on; and we're afraid the "barbie gone wrong look" makes our chaps run a mile. Ladies - How We Fix It: Getting older is a fact of life so go with it. Opt for exercise and a diet consisting of lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, nuts and oily fish. Find a good moisturiser that sinks into your skin without leaving it feeling dry or greasy and protect from the elements - particularly the sun. None of this will turn back the time, but it will help slow down the ageing process. 103 men 9.3% 5. Dark Lip Liner Well, who would have thought that a look championed by Pamela Anderson would make it into the top ten turn-offs, but pale lipstick, with dark lip liner is a no-no according to our surveyed group. The look is designed to encourage the look of fullness on the lips, but in reality is dated and just makes you look like you have a trout pout. Ladies - How We Fix It: Lip liner can be a good way of defining your lip line and making them look fuller, but in order not to go for the trout pout look, choose a liner close to the lipstick shade you are wearing. You can go a shade darker for more emphasis, but just make sure it blends in. 129 men 11.8% 4. Facial Hair More women suffer from the problem of facial hair than would care to admit to the problem. The only reason you are not aware is because they take care of the problem quietly and efficiently. If you ignore it, then I'm afraid you are alienating a large group of men, who find this the fourth largest turn off. Ladies - How We Fix It: DON'T SHAVE - EVER! It may be tempting to simply whip it off with a razor, but you are just compounding the problem if you do this. The hairs will grow back thicker and darker and before you know, you will be sporting a full beard. Although this may be fun for fancy dress parties, you are not likely to attract a mate. Choose either waxing or dying instead. 138 men 12.6% 3. Drawn On Eyebrows Drawn on eyebrows range from large, thick 'scouse brows', such as those sported by our royal princess and recently spotted on Victoria Beckham, to skinny scrawny brows drawn over the top of over-plucked, hairless brows. Whichever way you go, the drawn on brow is seen as a major turn off by our gents. Ladies - How We Fix It: Our boys said that they prefer their ladies' brows to be "well groomed". That means that if you have a monobrow - fix it, then tidy up the rest of the brow and leave it natural, rather than darkening them to an unnatural shade. Once a brow is over-plucked, there is no going back - so the answer is to not go too far with your plucking in the first place. If it's too late for this, you need to get good at creating a natural looking brow yourself with make up. This means investing in a decent brow pencil that allows you to add fine lines that resemble hairs, rather than one solid line, which will always look naff. 166 men 15.2% 2. Orange Fake Tan We all know the dangers of tanning, but most of us look better with a healthy glow, so we have had to turn to the bottle in order to enjoy the benefits of a tan. This however is dangerous in its own way. According to our survey though, this is the second biggest turn off when it comes to beauty blunders, with helpful comments from our surveyed group such as "Nobody wants to date an Oompa-Loompa. Ladies - How We Fix It: The problem with fake tan is that you have to wait for it to wear off. You can try exfoliating and cleansing, but be careful not to scrub your face too hard as a red raw face is more likely to attract concern than the James Bond lookalike you were after. Even if you don't scrub too hard, it can leave your face patchy and blotchy, which again is not a good look. Experiment with different types of fake tan when you have lulls in your social life to see which suits your skin type, and if in doubt, use a product that will provide a healthy glow without developing. 186 men 17.0%, 1. Неavy Make Up Many ladies can confess to having at least experimented with heavy make up, whether it was just for an occasional night out or getting up two hours early each day to trowel on layers of foundation. Either way, the men don't dig that Essex look and prefer a much more natural look when it comes to make up. The overall sentiment is that the overly-made-up woman is trying to hide something and when he gets her to bed, she is going to remove the mask and reveal something hideous underneath. Ladies - How We Fix It: Avoid thick layers of unnatural looking foundation. Use a light, translucent foundation that simply evens out your skin tone and not one that masks your skin altogether. If you are going for the smokey eyes look, take care not to overdo it. False eyelashes should not be too long and use a light blusher that matches your skin tone.
