In pursuing a degree in the field of nursing, it’s essential to remain up-to-date on the various medical concerns the world is up against in the 21st century. Some of these issues are more expected than others: One of the largest health concerns in the world today is due to the lack of toilets and available bathroom space, particularly in third world and developing nations. Lack of waste sanitation and even the unavailability of toilets kills millions of people annually, and each year it’s the number one killer of children under five. And while no one seems willing to discuss the problem of poop, the issue grows worse and worse every year. The Earth’s water supply simply can’t support flushable toilets in every household worldwide, and yet waste is piling up, contaminating water supplies, and causing millions of people to fall ill. The future of toilets, it seems, may be flushless. But for the sake of our world’s health, that future can’t come quickly enough.
