Santa Cruz: 50-foot wave Submarine landslides Santa Cruz have only recently been recognized as a major source of deadly tsunamis. Steven N. Ward, a geophysicist at the University of California at Santa Cruz, has developed computer programs to simulate the possible effects of such slides.
