Tell Mosquitoes To Buzz Off

HOT TIPS FOR GETTING MOSQUITOES TO BUZZ OFF THIS SUMMER Summertime is dinnertime for mosquitoes. Don't let your backyard barbecue or lazy days on the water turn into a feast for pesky blood-suckers. Take action now to keep the clouds of potentially disease-ridden insects at bay. Strike early. Mosquitoes breed in standing pools of water. Pay attention to your irrigation system to make sure the water is soaking in and draining freely. Also search for problem areas and eliminate them: • Puddles and pools • Neglected birdbaths • Clogged rain gutters • Buckets, wheelbarrows and flowerpot bottoms If you can't eliminate standing water, treat it with a larvicide pellet. Secure the perimeter. There's no way to keep adult mosquitoes away completely, but creating a perimeter using backpack mosquito machines can help. • Spray insecticides where mosquitoes rest during the day • Eliminate overgrowth and dense weeds • Maintain clean landscaping Protect Yourself. Zap and Trap. When you're going to be outdoors, take steps to prevent bites. Choose from a broad range of flying insect lights and traps. Your options include: • Avoid activities at dusk and dawn • Wear long-sleeved, light-colored clothing • Douse yourself with insect repellant • Traps using special light wavelengths to trap and kill pests. • Attractants which lure mosquitoes into a container where they can't escape. Keep screens, windows and doors in good shape to keep pests out. Traps are a great addition to overall pest reduction plans!
