THE TALL GUY'S GUIDE TO BUYING BIG CLOTHES As a tall man, you know how hard it is to find clothes that fit. You've taken a risk on many purchases, only to find out you've sold yourself short. Some clothing designers do build for the common man, but at 6'or above, you are anything but common. Follow these tips to ensure you're buying clothes that fit. $420 5FT9/2IN The average height of the American Male is 176.3 cm (5 ft 9 12 in) The average American Male spends $420 Many companies will offer a size guide on their website a year on clothes TIP DON'T SETTLE Yes, someone makes clothes for you. You just haven't found it yet. But don't settle on the first thing you try on. If it doesn't fit, it doesn't fit. Know what size your body is. TIP CLOTHES SHRINK Natural fibers, like cotton and wool, will shrink while Synthetics, like polyesteri and acetate, will not. The easiest way to avoid the guessing game is look for; clothes with the label that says "Pre-shrunk."That way, you won't be able to mess it up later. TIP : HORIZONTAL LINES Avoid vertical lines or stripes if you're taller because it creates the illusion of length, making you appear taller than you actually are. Horizontal lines combat this and help even it out. TIP (5 I SLEEVE LENGTH This falls under the category of not settling. There are plenty of options out there that are : slim and long in the body, and long enough in the sleeves - you just need to look and know your measurements. Made-to-order shirts are also an option. Although it'll run you a little more, it may be worth it if you're spending all day in dress shirts. TIP AVOID BAGGY CLOTHES There are plenty of options out there in! slim or straight cut. You don't need to sacrifice the width for a long length. Wearing baggy clothes makes you appear less fit, whereas wearing clothes : that fit will make you seem more mature. TIP 6. "TAILORED FIT" & "SLIM FIT" ARE YOUR FRIENDS There are a plethora of options out there with tailored or slim fit. If they aren't available, getting your clothes tailored is always an option too. TIP | CUFFING BOTTOMS Cuffing your pants or jeans helps create i the illusion of a slightly shorter leg, and also allows your to customize the length of the pants. Perfect when wearing lower shoes.
