So, what exactly is robotic surgery and what does it entail? Robotic surgery is a technique in which a surgeon performs surgery using a computer that remotely controls very small instruments attached to a robot. From hip replacement to open heart surgery, robots have countless applications in surgery.
Having robots being used for surgery has many advantages. To begin with, robots’ movements are a lot more accurate than those of a human being. Surgical robots alleviate any concerns about unsteady hands. Every move the robot makes is controlled by the surgeon at a computer desk nearby.
Robots are also able to use small instruments and get into hard-to-reach places much easier. Thanks to the precise movement of these machines, it is much easier to get into smaller spaces by using smaller cuts. This makes robotic surgery much less invasive, giving it an advantage over traditional open and laparoscopic surgery.
