STATE nitro OF THE PAPERLESS OFFICE SURVEY REVEALS JAM IN PAPERLESS MOVEMENT The "paperless revolution" is supposed to make our working lives easier-but digital tools have not evolved quickly enough to make that a reality. We polled 500 US office workers about their paper usage, collaboration, and work habits: Collaboration Tools: 41.9% always Who Uses What? 99% Microsoft Word 89.2% 28.8% most of the time PDF 74.6% GoToMeeting Other 20% still review 9.7% some of printed 28.4% Dropbox 9.4% the time documents None of these 6.3% Less than 1% never Yammer 2.3% review printed documents Huddle 1.4% IN GENERAL 33% Claim the biggest barrier is that going paperless is simply 'not a priority' 42% 66% Say they share more than half their documents Still fax 'most of the electronically time' or 'always'. Only 3.9% 'never' send faxes. 64% Use less paper today than they did five years ago WORKPLACE COLLABORATION 60% 78% of workers 18-35 say use of technology at the workplace has increased over the last share documents electronically more than half of the time, five years vs. 60% of workers age 55+ REGIONAL FINDINGS People in the West recycle Southerners use the most paper. 51.3% claim 'I always use paper' or 'I use paper more than all other regions. 63% say they 'always' recycle. most of the time'.
