STATE OF THE MUSIC 2013 LICENSING INDUSTRY MUSIC LICENSING is the process of gaining and granting permission for someone to use copyright music works for their own purpose. This includes projects such as films, TV shows, advertising campaigns, and computer games. THE MUSIC LICENSING INDUSTRY IS A GLOBAL MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR INDUSTRY In 2011 Worldwide Music Licensing Revenues (Including revenue from placement of music in commercials, films, TV shows and video games] was: $2.5 BILLION of the Worldwide Music Industry Revenues for that year ($67.6 billion) Music Licensing is one of the fastest growing areas of the music industry.
