Star Wars Toys Now & Then

STAR WARSTOVS By. THEN AND NOW Fortress Geek Lightsabers Then STAR WARS The original 1978 Kenner lights aber ("light saber") was nothing more than an inflatable tube attached to a flashlight. (source: http://theswca.com/images- toys/mis c/inflatablesaber.html) Now Lights aber toys now have hard plastic blades, and many are made for display purposes only. Though some come pre-constructed mimicking the weapon of your favorite character, now toy buyers have the ability to build their own lights abers. Wicket the Ewok Plush Then Kenner produced this cutie-pie way back in 1983, with a few different releases of the box design Now Various companies and individuals are producing and selling their versions of Wicket, including this talking version by Underground Toys. WARS Han Solo's Blaster Pistol Then Han Solo's weapon first came onto the toy scene as Star Wars Laser Pistol, then got renamed to Star Wars Blaster Pistol. Depending on your search results, the box displays the logo of one of a few different toy manufacturers, including Kenner, TolToys, and Palitoy. STARWARSa Now Rubies Costumes has one of the only Han Solo guns available on the market today for play purposes (and not dis play). it comes in blue and orange colors, so fans will have to repaint if they want it to look anything like Han's original. Princess Leia as Boushh Action Figure Then With the release of Return of the Jedi in 1983, Kenner produced this simple action figure of Princess Leia as Boushh with nothing more than a few joints, removable helmet, and rifle STAR WARS Now Undergoing several changes over the years, the most recent (2010) Saga Legends ren more pieces and flexibility and is part of a larger game system. n of Boushh Leia has AT-AT Then WARS AT-AT If you wanted to be the coolest Star Wars kid on the block when The Empire Strikes Back was released, you had to own this AT- AT Walker from 1980. STAR WARS Now Hasbro's put out the biggest (and pretty expensive) AT-AT figure yet, standing over 2 feet tall and 2 feet wide. Cantina Playset STAR WARS Then Available exclusively through the Sears catalog from 1978 to 1979, this playset was nothing more than cardboard scenery and 4 action figures (which are now hard to find). CANTINA ADVENTURE SET Now STAR WARS The most recent and slightly more updated (i.e. with more plastic) version of the cantina plays et is still over 10 years old from 1998, wheén Hasbro released their "The Power of the Force" series. Yoda Action Figure Then TAR This Yoda action figure was released in 1981 along with The Empire Strikes Back. A version of the figure released around the same time varied slightly in shape and color (a brown snake, for example), but die-hard collectors consider the Yoda with the orange snake to be the original. WARS STAR WARS Now Yoda action figures don't vary much from the '80s, except for the animated style from the Clone Wars in the early 2000s. AI Yons The Millenium Falcon Then STAR WARS MILLENUM FALCON SPACESHP Released in 1979, the very first Millenium Falcon toy was called "Millenium Falcon Spaceship." The word spaceship wasn't removed until the second release of the Empire Strikes Back line. Now WARS I STAR The 2012 version of the Millenium Falcon by Hasbro updated the detail, size, and many other features of the old version; it also includes Han Solo and Chewbacca action figures. New Text Label Вonus What We Wish Had A "Now" STAR WARS Both versions of this toy were released in 1979, except the plastic one (left image) was the only version released in the U.S., whereas the cardboard one was released in Canada, the UK, New Zealand, France, and Australia. STAR WARS No toy company has made a new version of the Death Star since (the fact that it was blown up twice shouldn't matter - we want it on our shelves!).
