Some of the Best Drivers in History

SOME EF THE BEST DRIUERS IN CISTORY Driving in its every day form usually can consist of mundane tasks for most of us like stopping at red lights, indicating, checking wing mirrors, changing of gears, filling petrol up at a garage, etc. But for car driving professionals, they have a little bit more to contend with to say the least - like exhibiting huge concentration over a prolonged period of time, while knowing the slightest lapse in concentration could cause them serious bodily harm, such are the dangers of their high level driving careers. Either way you look at it, what these drivers need to put their bodies and minds through to achieve the level of driving skills that they have, is nothing short of miraculous. These brave men from the world of rally driving or Formula One offer an insight into what the human mind and spirit is really capable of when pushed to its absolute limits. Alan Jones (Australia) 5 Starting off in the F1 World with the legendary Australian. Alan Jones The fact that Jones was the driver who basically resurrected Williams from middle contenders into legitimate world champions has to be acknowledged on this list. Four wins in 1979 with the FW07 gave the team a kick-start, and this gave rise to five victories in 1980 that put Jones 13 points clear of Nelson Piquet to ultimately land him the title. A fierce and contested Reutemann helped deny him multiple championships in his time before he eventually decided to retire. -house rivalry with team mate Carlos 4 Colin McRae (Scotland) Born in 1968, Colin McRae was arguably the number one driver in the history of the World Rally Championship, not just for his all electric driving on rally venues around the globe but also for the range of computer games which carried his name after his success on the track. Son of another rally great Jimmy McRae, Colin became Champion in both 1991 and 1992 while driving for Subaru and took his first WRC win with the team in New Zealand in 1993. In 1995 when driving for the iconic Impreza, he took wins in New Zealand and Great Britain to become the first Briton to lift the WRC title. Colin was awarded an MBE in 1996, accumulated an incredible 25 WRC wins during his dazzling career which makes him one of the most successful drivers to have ever appeared in the sport, and arguably one of the best drivers ever, period. Sebastien Loeb (France) When it comes to Rally driving this man simply has to be included. | He is simply dominant on every surface and he does it with absolute grace and sheer technique throughout his epic career of rally driving. His 47 rally tally of wins is 17 more than Marcus Gronholm who is in second place with 30 victories. He has destroyed practically every record when it comes to winning in the sport. The man is talent personified, with an inherent and almost instinctive knack for driving. A true driving legend. 01 2 Sebastian Vettel (Germany) | Moving back to F1, and to a country (Germany) that seems to produce top class drivers year after year. Sebastian Vettel is currently still an active F1 driver which makes his ridiculously impressive record all the more credible. Vettel actually spent eight years in karts, winning the German Junior Karting Championship, the Monaco Kart Cup and European Junior Karting Championship in 2001. Then in 2002 he was sixth in the Senior ICA Kart Championship which promoted his decision to move into senior racing. Sebastian Vettel has made astonishingly rapid and successful progress through the lower ranks of motorsport. In 2010 he became the youngest ever Formula One world champion. This is a feat the will take some beating for many, many years. A talented driver, to say the least. Michael Schumacher (Germany) The "numero uno", "the head hauncho", "the creme de la creme", when it comes to the best drivers, surely there can only be one - Michael Schumacher. This incredible man and athlete is known the world over. Michael Schumacher won more world championship and races than any other driver in a career which spanned an amazing 19 successful years. Many people were sustain such success in driving for such a long period of time. He first retired initially in 2006 while driving for Ferrari. He returned four years later with Mercedes, only to decide retire again at the end of 2012, to cap a remarkable driving career. left wondering how a man could Quite Simply - The Best.
