Skechers has set aside $40 million for customers seeking a refund for their purchase. Tone-ups Injuries Caused by Skechers: Fall-related injuries: The purpose of toning shoes is to create instability in order to require users to use different muscles. However, this instability can cause users to fall and suffer a variety of injuries including bruises, sprains, or broken bones. Specifically, Skechers stated that it was relying on independent case studies when in fact two of these studies were conducted by a chiropractor married to a Skechers marketing executive. The first study was flawed because it did not include a control group. The second study included "altered and incomplete" data.
