Calculating the size of the world's cigarette habit is—pun intended—a tall order. Some of the world's wealthiest nations take the lead in yearly cigarette tallies for an average city resident, but the World Health Organization reports that more than 80 percent of the world's smokers live in low- and middle-income countries. No matter the nation of origin, it is clear that smokers everywhere are outpacing the world's architectural feats with the height of their habits.
