Event Safety Guidelines SAFETY EQUIPMENT & FENCING Signage, safety equipment and fencing are used to define venue boundaries, designate safety zones, delineate pedestrian areas from vehicles and guide crowd behavior. Local regulations require event planners to provide equipment such as barricades, traffic cones, directional signage, fencing and lighting. Safety equipment must be installed at a specific location and time as required by the police department and city officals. TYPES OF BARRICADES Interlocking Barricades Also known as bike racks, these barriers are interlocking and movable. This type is used to efficiently manage vehicle and pedestrian traffic. A-Cade or Storm Barricades Type I or II Barricades These barriers are a cost-effective way to span long distances but do not interlock.
