Some of the main intentions and outcomes of the recast were: Extending the scope of product inclusion by adding three new categories of products with specific inclusion deadlines CE Making ROHS2 a CE-Marking Directive Providing clearer definitions of exemptions, obligations of manufacturers, and definitions No new substances were added. However, there is a provision that the list of restricted substances must be reviewed by the European Commission by July 2014 and member states now have the opportunity propose new substance restrictions. 2003 2006 2008 2011 2013 ROHS Directive in effect ROHS Directive ROHS Recast/ ROHS2 proposed ROHS Recast/ ROHS2 published ROHS Recast/ ROHS2 in effect published ROHS2: EXPIRATION OF EXEMPTION Medical Devices In-Vitro Diagnostic Devices specifically O JUL 22, 2014 O JUL 22, 2016 Monitoring and Control Instruments Industrial Monitoring and Control Instruments specifically O JUL 22, 2014 O JUL 22, 2017 All other Electrical and Electronic Equipment, unless specifically excluded O JUL 22, 2019 ROHS2: A CE-MARKING DIRECTIVE WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? CE A CE Mark must be placed on all Electrical and Electronic Equipment by Manufacturers of products made within the European Economic Area and by importers of goods made in other countries to prove they are compliant with all CE Directives. To be able to place a CE-Mark, a Declaration of Conformity must prove through technical testing that you are compliant with all directives that apply to your product. ROHS2 is now an applicable directive. Infographic by: Feeling overwhelmed by Environmental Compliance including ROHS/REACH?
