The Energy Information Administration claim that about 331 million barrels of liquid petroleum gases (LPG) and natural gas liquids (NGL) are used to make plastic products in the USA (2006). Per person this works out to 128 litres each, including children. Nearly 90 percent of plastic ends up in landfill. Most plastic is for single use disposable packaging, bags or bottles. It's time to 'say no' to disposable packaging and develop new ways of using re-usable bottles, containers and bags. The milk man had it worked out.
