The average American household burns through an estimated 1,100 gallons of motor fuel each year. And now that gas prices are on the rise — again — Americans are feeling the financial strain. In some states the average price of a gallon of gas is over $4, but those residents aren't feeling the pain as badly as those in states with a low median income. We examine average fuel price and annual income by state to find out who is spending the most at the pump.
