This infographic gives overview & comparison of amendments in Indian Patent Act- 1999, 2002 & 2005. There are many important and policy amendments that are made by The Patents (Amendment) Act, 2005 and The Patents (Amendment) Rules 2005 which come into force from 1st Jan 2005. These changes have been bought to comply with India's obligation to amend its Intellectual property Laws in consonance with International standards, like that of TRIPS, WTO, WIPO. With the enactment of Patents (Amendment) Act 2005 the amending process of Indian Patents Act 1970 to bring it in line with the TRIPS Agreement has been completed by the government.
