The Organized Closet

CLOSET ORGANIZATION checklist ICLOTHING A well curated wardrobe depends on the ability to edit. Donate clothes you haven't worn for more than a year, and anything that doesn't fit. Section your clothing into categories. Find a system that works for you: organizing by color, by garment type, or by purpose (work and weekend). Set aside items that need tailoring or dry cleaning. Invest in good hangers to keep your garments from stretching out over wire frames. Store anything that's out of season, and any rarely used special occasion items. .... Fold anything likely to lose its shape if hung, and store on a shelf. SHOES What's an outfit without shoes? Find a way to tame yours! Choose a system for organizing shoes: a shelf, a floor rack, a hanging rack, or simple rows all work. Bring any shoes that need re-soling or repairs to a cobbler. Invest in boot shapers so tall boots don't lose their shape. Keep polish on hand in a variety of colors for quick touch-ups. ACCESSORIES Half the battle is organizing the top of your dresser. Use hooks for scarves and bags to keep them off your closet floor. Use baskets for small items like clutches and belts. Create a jewelry organization system: invest in a quality jewelry box, catchalls, or display pieces. A necklace display can do double duty as a decorative dresser topper. For larger items, like watches and wallets, a valet is a hand- some dresser addition. redENVELOPE
