It was 1962 when we first saw Sean Connery play James Bond on the silver screen. Now 50 years onwards, Bond is still the world’s favourite secret agent. To celebrate his 50th anniversary, we focused on the men who brought this devious, deadpan and dreamy character to life, pulling out data from the collective films and focussing on what each Bond was notorious for thorughout the decades.
As each actor brought a slightly different twist to the role, we chose to combine information graphics with era-specific visual references derived from movie posters, bringing each one’s iconic personality to life.
Created for the Information is Beautiful Awards in collaboration with Alexis Cuddyre www.alexiscuddyre.com and David Paul Rosser www.davidpaulrosser.co.uk. We decided to explore the use of parallax to communicate the idea of time, annotating all the different movies each actor starred in along the lefthand side, while pulling in famous quotes and additional data such as the number of martinis consumed, the number of times each actor was presumed dead and the number of people killed etc.
