In its final week, the Tour de France has challenged 219 cyclists to cover more than 3,600 miles in three weeks. Each cyclist has a power meter that measures his power production. If he is pedaling at full force, it can be anywhere from 300-400 watts. For example, when your air condition is running on full blast, it’s consuming about 4,000 watts. It would take about 10 of the Tour de France cyclists to power the house when it consumes that much power. With all 219 cyclists, they could power up to 687,600 watts. Now that’s pedal power!
