In this life, I was given feet instead of fins, so I became what most people refer to as an “environmentalist.” Every time I have the opportunity to talk about the environment in a school, community, or conference here or abroad, I speak about our marine wealth with much pride. I tick off facts and figures from studies showing that the Philippines is the apex of the Coral Triangle, which is known as the world’s center of marine biodiversity. In other words, our archipelago, making up what looks like a bunch of dots on the world map, is the center of the center of marine biodiversity on Earth.
