MUNICIPAL AGGREGATION IN ILLINOIS • Are you ready for a 27% increase in rates? WHAT IS MUNICIPAL AGGREGATION? • In 2012, Chicago passed a referendum that allowed municipalities to purchase electricity on behalf of their residents. • This gave municipalities a great deal of collective bargaining power, which resulted in suppliers offering lower rates to municipalities than they would to individuals. WHAT'S CHANGING?
