The INFUSE Bone Graft was approved for use in fusing bones in the lower part of the back (the lumbar spine, from the L-2 to S-1 vertebrae) of patients suffering from back pain. However, it has been used off-label to fuse bones in the upper part of the back and neck (the cervical spine). This has led to various cancers, sexual side effects, uncontrolled bone growth, nerve injuries and more.
