MAPPING THE MARCH: YOUR GRADUATION DAY BLUEPRINT So everything's set. You're now dressed in your academic regalia and ready to march your way up that stage for your diploma. But wait! How will the official Registration Counters These are stations where students, parents and guests come first to register. A separate counter might be set up for parents and guests to collect their guest passes. graduation ceremony go? Are you supposed to directly crash the graduation hall or is there some pre-graduation ritual you ought to do before you go in? Here's an overview of what your graduation ceremony might look like. Anticipate the excitement and plan to enjoy every moment of it-you've earned it! Group Photography Sessions Academic Procession These are done an hour or two prior to the processional. Students who will arrive late will no longer be allowed to participate so better come early to join this part. This signals the start of the formal gradua- tion ceremony. A head marshal leads the students in marching through the aisle followed by the school's faculty members. Students remain standing until all the faculty members have settled on their respective places. Presentation of Candidates Recessional Students will be asked to stand up for the conferral of their degrees. It is then followed by the presentation of diplomas. Hired or official school photographers will take individual photos of students as they receive their diplomas. This is just the exact reverse of the pro- cessional. Right after the graduation rites, the commencement marshal leads the graduates out of the graduation hall. Take a deep breath and smile. This is your day.
