For this LGBT Pride month, I thought it would be important to discuss the progress that has been made. However, I didn't want to stop it there. When I hear many people talk about progress, they discus...
s it like it's the end of the road. Yet, there is a lot more progress that needs to be made. In this infographic, I wanted to show the LGBT progress in way that simply recognized it, but also laid out the barriers.
For the community, there are still many LGBT people who are shamed and afraid to come out. Even for those who aren't exiled from their own families, there is still a great amount of fear that these people have about being who they are.
Reparative therapy is also something that still exists. This shaming practice works to change sexual orientation and non-cisgender expression. It ignores every scientific argument that there are variances in sexual orientation and gender and these variances are normal.
Finally, the community has progress to make in treating each other equally. This is especially true for the treatment of bisexual and trangender individuals.
