Killing Journalists with Impunity
Killing Journalists with Impunity PRESS With more than 600 journalists killed in the last ten years and many more who suffered other non-fatal attacks, the conviction rate of the perpetrators of these crimes is extremely low. Impunity has cultivated a climate of fear, apathy and suspicion, a vicious cycle and a culture of self-censorship. A safe and enabling environment should be made available for journalists to perform their work independently and without undue interference.
