Isn't it the consumer (not the corporation) who is 'really' in control?

Capitalism if often presented like a pyramid of power. It makes you wonder, 'Are the people enslaved by the corporation?'
'Or is the corporation the puppet on the strings of the the people?'
Or...
maybe it's more like a triangle like this, where the customers rule over the corporations and banks, defined by their purchase what wins and loses, whilst the corporations scramble to keep up with their wants.
It is the customers who are the master of puppets and the corporations on the strings.
