This inforgraphic attempts to display the amount of information lost throughout history from libraries, religious institutions, and houses of knowledge due to warfare, fire, and other events. From the...
dawn of human civilization books, maps, scientific notes, religious artifacts, historical records, and art have all been destroyed and lost forever. In modern times books could be easily replicated, however, in ancient times artist works like Archimedes have been almost entirely destroyed.
The inforgraphic misses a few events where data on the amount of destruction was unavailable or inconsistent. Data is displayed also in modern storage terms (Gigabytes) to help viewers understand how much was destroyed.
