How touchscreens work

O How touchscreens work On most modern touchscreens, a grid of tiny driving lines (carrying current) and sensing lines (detectors) cover the screen just below the surface. A small voltage maintains a uniform electrostatic charge across these electrodes. When your finger touches, it causes a change in the local electric field. This voltage disruption is detected & registered at each axis by a controller. But not all touchscreens work in quite the same way. There are several variations on this 'capacitive' system, and 'resistive' screens work in a different way altogether, registering a touch when two seperate layers are pressed together by a finger. http://bit.ly/ThingsWStuff
