Although federal money meted out to states accounts for about a third of state budgets (on average), the actual amount per state varies greatly. This graphic shows, by state, which percentage of each state's budget comes from federal dollars. The graphic also shows how federal stimulus funds to states are beginning to have a diminished impact on state budgets, despite an initial boost during the recession.
