How to Decorate a Guest Room
HOW TO DECORATE A a guest room The aim of creating a guest room is to create a "home from home" that will make any visitors feel at ease, while remaining as functional as a hotel room so your guests are never left wanting. Never be afraid to add personal flourishes, but remember that your guest room needs to be above all FUNCTIONAL and COMFORTABLE. FUNCTIONALITY Your guest room will probably be your smallest bedroom, so it's good to plan your space intelligently. You can also divide up an existing room such as an office to create a small guest room in the free space. If you are decorating a large room, consider including several beds for several guests. Flea market or second hand furniture is a great solution if you're on a budget. Account for technology - your guests will probably need chargers. Place phone chargers on the bedside table or extension leads close to the bed to make life easier for them. Make sure a good lamp or reading lamp is close to the bed. COMFORT Details such as a cosy rug, extra pillows, a quilt on top of the bed, and a well lit make-up mirror will make your guest feel welcome. Throw pillows instantly add a level of cosiness to a room as well as giving you the opportunity to add an accent colour. relaxing to put your guests at ease: neutrals, pastel colours, pale colours, keep vibrant colours in the room's details. Consider fragrances - leave a reed diffuser in the room to keep it smelling fresh. Leave a couple of books near the bed for reading material for your guests. Remember to include amenities in the room - towels, a flannel, hand soap, face wash, shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste and a travel toothbrush will always be welcome.
