Home Preparation For Severe Weather

STORM SEASON ARE YOU PREPARED? With storm season right around the corner, it is important to prep your home for the possiblitlity of damage due to adverse weather events. Here are some key areas of your property to focus on when beginning to prepare your home for the season! 1) Check Your Roof This is the best time to act so that you prevent water leakage from high winds. Check your roof for missing or flapping shingles, and if you have a metal roof, recoat it. 2) Exterior Repairs Make sure that all of your siding, awnings, gutters, downspouts, and brackets are all in good working order. Replace or repair them if they are damaged at all or dangling. 3) Water Heater Check your water heater as well as your furnace to make sure that they are securely attached to your home. If necessary, call a professional to perform repairs. 4) Utilities In the case of an emergency, you will want to know where to shut off all of your utilities including electricity and water. This can save you a lot of trouble in the event of severe weather. 5) Hazardous Objects Walk around your yard and check for shovels, bikes, poles, or anything that could potentially cause damage to your home during severe weather and high winds. 6) Beneath Your Home Check the underside of your home to ensure that there are no flammable or hazardous materials underneath. This can be especially dangerous during a storm. http://www.foremost.com/ http://www.extremecleanupservices.com/
