To date, 13 deaths have been linked to the defective ignition switch. But, records show that the airbags failed to deploy in hundreds of other accidents involving at least two of the recalled vehicles. While the accidents have not been linked to the defect, consumer watchdog groups argue that it is a possibility.
Anyone who was injured in or had a family member die in a crash involving one of the affected vehicles should contact an attorney to find out if they qualify to file a lawsuit. Lawsuits allege that GM failed to notify the public of the potential danger when it first discovered the problem.
