Glorious Goodwood is by far the most prestigious racing event in July and for many punters there’s no better sight than watching the horses flash in front of the rising stands.
Champions are made...
at Goodwood and the Class 1 Qipco Sussex Stakes on Day 2 is one of the ultimate races in the British calendar. Punters will have thousands on this one-mile gallop that sees 49 horses flow down towards the grandstands before swooping right and over the luscious green straight to the line.
Champion trainers Aiden O’Brien (4) and Saeed Bin Suroor (3) both boast winners at this meet that rivals Saturday’s Blue Square Stewards’ Cup for sporting prestige. Day 5 sees the 6f Group 1 pack sprint to the line and punters often do well backing the favourites.
Seven of the last 10 Stewards’ Cups have been won by horses priced 10/1 or under – there really is no luck involved in this one and that’s what makes Goodwood so glorious to watch.
