YES NO NOT SURE Can it be sanded? Do a test area to see if Or is it laminate or plastic? the paint will adhere. Did the paint stick? NO YES {PRIMER It can be sanded It's laminate or plastic Sand the surface Prime it. with 180 or 220 grit sandpaper until the surface is scuffed Apply 1 coat of primer. (Cover Stain, BIN Shellac Primer, Kilz etc.) enough that paint will adhere to the surface. Do a light sanding with 320 grit sandpaper until the surface is smooth & ready for paint. Clean off all dust thoroughly with a damp rag. Then, apply the 1st coat of paint by using either a sprayer, brush or a roller. PAINT Are there brush strokes showing? YES NO Make sure you are using a high quality brush and applying the paint as evenly as possible. Work in small sections and allow the paint to self-level & dry. For existing brush stroke marks, allow them to dry. Then, sand them smooth. Are there drips? YES NO Use less paint on your brush & avoid applying the paint too thick in one Do a light sanding of the first coat with 320 or 400 grit sandpaper. Then, clean the surface area. Allow existing drips to dry. Then, sand them smooth. thoroughly with a clean, damp rag. Paint the second coat. Allow the paint to dry completely. Then, sand the surface with 320 or 400 grit sandpaper. Clean thoroughly with a clean, damp rag.
